Alder Smoked Dark Ale
ABV: 7.1% IBUs: 42
Hundreds of years ago almost all beers had some smoke flavors due to the exposure to direct flame during the malting process. Thankfully that is no longer the case and we don't have to drink smoked pilsners. However We embraced these ancient techniques that are typically used in Rauchbiers and Malty Ales to bring a whole new layer of complexity to this beer!
This smooth ale pours a deep brown color and starts out with nice flavors of chocolate and small hints of coffee and finishes witha nice subtle smokey flavor unique to alder wood. in creating this beer we smoked roughly 15% of the malt bill on alder.
